Backed motorcycle out of garage at 8:15 this morning. Temp was 47° - made for a cool ride over to Luby's on Mason Road for the 8:30 meeting. The Christian Motorcycle Assoc. is a national group of Christian riders. The meeting business was conducted and we had a great devotional. Afterward, we grouped up and headed out I-10 to Brookshire, then up to Pattison and around by S F Austin State Park. Crossed over I-10 down to FM 1093 and back to our area. Lunch at a mexican food place and broke up and headed home. A short ride, only 74 mile today.
I rode 50 miles yesterday. Taking advantage of this great weather while we have it. Keep the dirty side down and the shinny side up.

New Years
We had plans to attend the New Years Eve party at Coushatte RV Ranch in Bellville, TX. We were going to take the trailer up on December 26th and park it to save us a good campsite. Weather report for the night of the 26th was for a low of around 26 in Bellville. Since I do not winterize the trailer since we store it in the shop, we elected to wait until Monday the 27th to take trailer out there. We got out there and the spot next to friends of ours was open, so we quickly parked in it. I hooked everything up, but left the water off (just in case) and we visited with friends that were there and out. We left and came back home.
Ellen's car had been a little slow in starting. I had had the battery tested at AutoZone and was told it was good. Cleaned the posts and cables last week, but slow starting continued. I went out to the shop and picked up my battery tested. My tested showed that the battery was weak. I pulled it out and went and bought a new battery. I installed it and car starts like it should.
Tuesday we loaded the car as we had not loaded the trailer before taking it out to the park. We got back to the trailer and unloaded the car and put things away. We visited for a while and it was time for dinner. The park grilled hamburgers and provided all the fixings and french fries. The group pot lucked desserts and items to go with hamburgers and fries. We sat around and talked until time to head to bed. We got back to the trailer and realized how empty it was. You see, we had Bonnie and Jess home with Michael. Sure was strange without them there. Wednesday morning, the park served pan cakes with bacon or sausage and coffee. We visited all day until dinner time. Park cooked potato soup and beef stew. Again we all took items to go along. Howard (owner of the park) cooks a ton of food, so there is always plenty to go around. After dinner we played Mexican Train domino's.
Another lonely night without the dogs.
Thursday morning we got up and headed back home. Ate breakfast and Ellen did her hair. Gathered up additional things we needed and headed back out. We took the dogs with us. After putting away everything, we took the dog for a long walk around the park. It was full! A number of clubs were represented among the campers. Lots of great rigs. Visited with some nice folks while walking. For dinner, Howard had smoked a bunch of briskets. He made chopped BBQ out of the briskets. He served large baked potatoes stuffed with BBQ (you could request it on the side) and all the fixings. Campers furnished salads and deserts. More great food. Dinner was followed by "Roaring 20's dress up contest". All had some really great outfits.
Of course Friday was the day. The day started with brunch at 10. Biscuits, gravy, sausage, bacon & coffee. Gravy was loaded with chunk of sausage. Really good country eating. So full, no need for lunch.
Visited a while, watched TV and at 3 we were allowed back into the rally room to decorate the table for our group for the evening's dance. Everyone contributed something and we had a great looking table.
Everyone started gathering around 7:30 and the band started at 8. Really good band. It was fun watching some of the folks dance as they were really good. Each table furnished snacks and finger food for their own table as well as BYOB. We had a great time, did not drink too much and were all able to walk out. Band quit playing at midnight. Howard put on a fireworks show at 12:30 that lasted for about 30 minutes or a little more. Managed to get to bed around 1 AM.
Ellen and I slept in until around 9 this morning. We started getting trailer ready to travel as we were coming home. Ellen is going to her quilt guile meeting tomorrow and wanted some time at home before having to go back to Illinois. New Year day lunch consisted of roast beef, rice, brown gravy, black eyed peas and cabbage. Of course campers furnished salads and desserts and other items. It takes a while to get ready as everyone stops by to say their goodbyes and talk about out next gathering.
Needless to say, we had a wonderful time. Howard and his wife do a great job with the food and make you feel very welcome in every way. He has a lot of volunteer help that make all this happen. Before leaving, we made reservations and paid for next year's party. Only a year away.
By the way. All the meals and party was $40/couple. Hard to believe he can provide all the food for that. Camp sites were $20/night, but only $3/night if you are just parked not using the RV.

Been a While
Sorry, just never got around to posting about the Texas Boomer Christmas Rally. We gathered December 3rd - 5th at Braunig Lake RV Resort in Elmendorf, TX, just south of San Antonio. Nice campground with a great rally hall and a pretty 5 acre lake in the middle of the park. We started Friday evening having dinner at the park. They have dinner for anyone in the park for $5/person. They had a taco dinner that night and it was good finished off with an ice cream sunday.
Saturday of course started with one of our great pot luck breakfasts. So much great food.
Breakfast was followed by free time and games. There was a rig decorating contest that was judged by the park employees. Here is the winner:
Lots of lights on rigs, but this one was great. Santa would close the door on the trailer and would come out when someone walked by. Drove the dogs crazy.
We gathered for our usual pot luck dinner. Again lots of great food.
Everyone had brought a wrapped gift. By table, everyone selected a gift. We were then allowed to unwrap them one by one so all could see. Then for 10 minutes we rolled the dice. 1 pair / table - if you rolled doubles, you could swap gifts with someone else. Some gifts were swapped alot, other not at all. Loads of fun.
Afterward, Santa appeared. He had kind words for all and promised us all the gifts on our list.
Got away Sunday morning after saying our goodbyes and had a safe trip home.
